Essential Duties Include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, assigning, delegating, and evaluating caregiving employees. 
  • Provide written and verbal feedback to staff regarding their job performance. 
  • Model expectations appropriately and provide support services to all staff. 
  • Provide for the safety, well-being, and appropriate treatment of all youth. 
  • Assist with facilitating pre-service and ongoing trainings. 
  • Communicate regularly with the GRO administrative team and participate in the development and implementation of collaborative strategies to manage youth behaviors. 
  • Work successfully as part of a team to: evaluate youth for placement, service planning, connect youth with appropriate programs and services, and meet individual youth needs in the GRO programs; develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, staff, and agency personnel. 
  • Participate in program planning and make recommendations to improve the quality of care for youth and staff development and retention. 
  • Train and encourage staff to teach youth basic social, academic, independent living, and spiritual skills needed to be successful. 
  • Assist the GRO Director with facilities management by conducting routine facility checks, identifying and reporting needed repairs or environmental and safety concerns, and ensuring timely completion of necessary repairs. 
  • Supervise shelter cook and/or other relevant staff, including: keeping food and supplies fully stocked and inventoried, ensuring meal plans meet nutritional guidelines set by the Texas Department of Family and Regulatory Services, and are consistent with the youth’s background. Ensure this is posted for one month. Correct and provide professional, final versions of the menu to the administrative office to keep on file for three months. 
  • Conduct compliance monitoring, including but not limited to: medication counts, storage and log reviews, smoke alarms, room checks, vehicles and car seats, and fire, severe weather, and emergency drills. 
  • Share on-call rotation and be available to respond as needed for youth placements, discharges, or other youth-related crises and emergencies. 
  • Nurture working relationships with community volunteers and service providers in coordinating and supervising community involvement programs. 
  • Responsible for learning and implementing Minimum Standards for General Residential Operations and all Contract Requirements, as well as ensuring personnel and physical site compliance with all High Sky policies, procedures, and personnel guidelines. 
  • Monitor and maintain state health guidelines, High Sky policies, procedures, and requirements. 
  • Ensure youth obtain medical care when needed or within guidelines set by applicable regulatory, contract, and licensing standards. 
  • Complete all documentation within the guidelines set by applicable regulatory, contract, and licensing standards. 
  • Perform general office tasks as required. 
  • Regular and timely attendance is required at work, meetings, and trainings.

Education/Experience 

Requirements 

Option 1: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field AND one year of documented full-time work experience in a residential child-care operation or related field of child and family services. 

OR 

Option 2: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND two years of documented full-time work experience in a residential child-care operation or related field of child and family services. 

Preferred 

1-year supervisory experience in a residential child-care operation or related field

Essential Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSCR’s comprehensive fundraising plan with clear goals, objectives, and strategies that promote growth, sustainability, and mission impact. 
  • Lead and promote a culture of philanthropy through strategic grant writing, community relations, donor engagement, marketing, and special event coordination. 
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive development plan and annual calendar of donor stewardship activities, strategies, and timelines to achieve fundraising goals. 
  • Identify, plan, and execute fundraising and awareness activities, including campus tours, major gift cultivation, special events, presentations, planned giving, media outreach and engagement, and publications. 
  • Collaborate in strategic planning efforts to align the leadership team, board, and staff around a shared long-term fund development strategy that advances High Sky’s mission. 
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities and community support to fund programs, projects, and campaigns. 
  • Write, submit, and manage grant proposals; engage with funders to solicit support, share agency and project updates, and provide required documentation and reports. 
  • Assist the Executive Director and Finance Director in developing and monitoring the Development Department budget, ensuring accurate reporting of fundraising revenue and expenditures. 
  • Build, strengthen, and sustain donor relationships through intentional cultivation, engagement, and stewardship efforts that foster long-term support and community awareness. 
  • Expand and diversify funding sources by engaging current and prospective donors through planned giving, direct appeals, and other strategic fundraising initiatives to achieve annual goals. 
  • Develop and distribute impactful marketing materials and messaging that effectively communicate High Sky’s mission and connect with a diverse range of donors, partners, and community members. 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of HSCR’s history, programs, and communities to effectively support fundraising efforts. 
  • Maintain, monitor, and analyze accurate records of donors, corporations, and foundations, including all grants, monetary donations, in-kind gifts, and sponsorships. 
  • Engage and support the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Board of Governors, HSCR Endowment Board, and other key stakeholders in advancing development goals and activities. 
  • Prepare and present administrative, statistical, and financial reports related to development activities. 
  • Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers, Board members, and Committees. 
  • Attend and participate in leadership, board, and staff meetings and training as required. 
  • Report suspected child abuse/neglect to the Executive Director and appropriate law enforcement agencies. Perform general office tasks and any other clerical tasks as required 
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. 
  • Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Education/Experience 

  • Required-

    • Ability to pass a thorough background check, including fingerprinting, a TB test, 
      and drug screening.

Youth Care Specialist – Overnight Shift

Salary Range: $17.00-17.50 per hour with a raise at the next full pay period after 90 days.

We are currently seeking a Youth Specialist to join our team on the overnight (8 pm-6 am) shift. WEEKENDS ARE REQUIRED. The Youth Specialist will be a highly skilled professional who is passionate about providing quality care to youth who have been abused, neglected, or temporarily separated from their family due to a crisis. All Youth Care Specialists are required to provide for all the needs of the children, including constant supervision throughout the assigned work schedule.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be at least the age of 21
  • Must be able to clear a drug test, TB test, criminal history check, driving history check, and abuse history check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: other duties may be assigned
  • Maintain constant supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care.
  • Review and implement all youth service plans and supervision plans
  • Maintain compliance with High Sky Policies, procedures, and requirements
  • Encourage and teach youth basic social, academic, emotional, and independent living skills necessary to be successful
  • Complete youth documentation such as daily progress logs, incident reports, medical forms, and medication logs
  • Complete all appointments and documentation within the guidelines set by residential licensing standards, residential contract requirements, and agency policy and procedures
  • Implement an effective youth motivation system and utilize appropriate and positive discipline techniques with youth
  • Prepare and serve youth a nutritious balanced meal and snacks
  • Maintain a clean & orderly shelter by completing daily chores and duties as assigned
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments for medical needs
  • Transport youth to appointments such as visitation, court hearings, school, therapy, and medical appointments
  • Attend and participate in monthly developmental, team, and all-staff meetings
  • Maintain compliance with required annual pieces of training.
