We are currently seeking a Youth Specialist to join our team on the evening (1p-9p) and overnight (8p-6a) shifts. WEEKENDS ARE REQUIRED. The Youth Specialist will be a highly skilled professional who is passionate about providing quality of care to youth who have been abused, neglected, or temporarily separated from their family due to a crisis. All Youth Care Specialist are required to provide for all the needs of the children including constant supervision throughout the duration of the assigned work schedule.

Salary Range: $16.25-16.75 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain constant supervision to ensure safety and wellbeing of all children in care.
  • Review and implement all youth service plans and supervision plans.
  • Maintain compliance with High Sky Policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Encourage and teach youth basic social, academic, emotional, independent living skills necessary to be successful.
  • Complete youth documentation such as daily progress logs, incident reports, medical forms, and medication logs
  • Complete all appointments and documentation within the guidelines set by residential licensing standards, residential contract requirements, and agency policy and procedures.
  • Implement an effective youth motivation system and utilize appropriate and positive discipline techniques with youth.
  • Prepare and serve youth a nutritious balanced meal and snacks.
  • Maintain a clean & orderly shelter by completing daily chores and duties as assigned.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments for medical needs.
  • Transport youth to appointments such as visitation, court hearings, school, therapy, and medical appointments.
  • Attend and participate in monthly developmental, team, and all-staff meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with required annual training.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

Family Support Specialist

Our team is looking to hire a Family Support Specialist to develop strong relationships with families in order to provide service coordination, support, and training to assist families in meeting the needs of their children, and enhancing parents’ role as the primary influence on their child’s education and development. Must live in service area (Pecos, Ward, or Reeves County).

Salary Range: $52,711.86-54,787.20 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: other duties may be assigned

  • Will deliver services to clients in accordance with contract between High Sky and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the Plan of Operations.  
  • Perform In-home consultations with children 0-18 yrs. of age with their Parents / Legal Guardians through family and individual sessions. 
  • Provide in-home consultations every 7 to 10 days throughout the family’s service period.
  • Work with eligible clients following the guidelines (STAY Program Plan of Operation) described in the contract between High Sky Children’s Ranch and the TDFPS, and in the Contract Handbook and Compliance Guide.
  • Develop action plans with family’s assistance. Plans should state desired outcome, goals and tasks and update monthly.
  • Report abuse or suspected abuse to proper authorities within twenty-four hours, as well as to their Program Supervisor.
  • Attend all program meetings as specified by Supervisor. 
  • Attend High Sky Children’s Ranch Pre-Service Workshop and all identified training as specified by the contract or their immediate Supervisor.
  • Notify immediate Supervisor before changing established procedure for providing services to family or client.
  • Share twenty-four on-call responsibilities with other program staff to ensure that all client’s needs are met in the timeliest fashion possible.
  • Be primarily responsible for providing Outreach and UCAP within their service area, and will be assisted as needed by the Community Liaison and direct Supervisor.  
  • Coordinate with other agencies to assist clients in obtaining additional services when needed.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION – Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
    * May be substituted for 4 years of additional experience
  • EXPERIENCE – 1 (one) year of fulltime experience working with youth and families.
  • PHYSICAL – Required to talk, hear, stand; walk; use hands and arms. Occasional ability to use up to 100 pounds of force and/or life up to 50 pounds. Employees with infectious diseases or skin lesions shall not work during communicability.
  • RESIDENCE – Must live in Pecos, Reeves or Ward County
  • LANGUAGE-Must be bi-lingual in the Spanish Language

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, with hours of work occurring during the day, evening and weekend; however, this position can occasionally require long hours and weekend work.

TRAVEL

  • Requires ability to drive personal vehicle, with valid state license, following all laws; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under High Sky’s insurance policy.
  • Able to drive and see for an extended period of time, during evening and night times, for up to seven hours a day in order to fulfill contract requirements.
  • Provide own transportation, at a cost per mile reimbursement established, for all STAY activities.

High Sky is seeking an GRO Manager that can be provide leadership, oversight, and coordination of direct care staff, house parents, and alternate caregivers, and daily operations of the GRO programs, including staff, regulatory compliance, and youth programs and services.

Salary Range: $59,037.28-67,541.01 per year, based on education and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for all aspects of leadership and daily supervision of up to 35 caregiving employees, including but not limited to: scheduling, approving timecards, managing time off requests, training, conducting team meetings, monitoring the application of trauma-informed care, and monitoring compliance with applicable regulatory, contract, and licensing standards.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, assigning, delegating, providing feedback, ongoing training, and evaluating caregivers.
  • Model expectations appropriately and provide support services to all staff.
  • Provide for the safety, well-being, and appropriate treatment of all youth.
  • Communicate regularly with the GRO administrative team and participate in development and implementation of collaborative strategies to manage youth.
  • Evaluate youth for placement, service planning, connect youth with appropriate programs and services, and meet individual youth needs; develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, staff, and agency personnel.
  • Participate in program planning and make recommendations to improve the quality of care for youth and staff development and retention.
  • Train and encourage staff to teach youth basic social, academic, independent living, and spiritual skills needed to be successful.
  • Supervise shelter cook and/or other relevant staff, including keeping food and supplies fully stocked and inventoried, ensuring meal plans meet nutritional guidelines set by the Texas Department of Family and Regulatory Services, are consistent with the youth’s background, and post monthly. Correct final versions of menu to the administrative office to keep on file for three months.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring, including but not limited to: medication counts, storage and log reviews, smoke alarms, room checks, vehicles and car seats, and fire, severe weather, and emergency drills.
  • Share on-call rotation and be available to respond as needed for youth placements, discharges, or other youth-related crises and emergency situations.
  • Nurture working relationships with community volunteers and service providers in coordinating and supervising community involvement programs.
  • Responsible for learning and implementing Minimum Standards for General Residential Operations and all Contract Requirements, as well as ensuring personnel and physical site compliance with all High Sky policies, procedures, and personnel guidelines.
  • Ensure youth obtain medical care when needed or within guidelines set by applicable regulatory, contract, and licensing standards.
  • Complete all documentation within the guidelines set by applicable regulatory, contract, and licensing standards.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required at work, meetings, and training.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience
    • Option 1: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field AND one year of documented full-time work experience in a residential child-care operation or related field of child and family services.
    • Option 2: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND two years of documented full-time work experience in a residential child-care operation or related field of child and family services.

Preferred Experience  – A minimum of 1-year supervisory experience in a residential child-care operation or related field.

  • License/Certification
    • Valid Driver license – Requires ability to drive program assigned or personal vehicle, with valid state license, following all laws; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under High Sky’s insurance policy
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a CPR/AED/1st Certification
